North Dakota Leads The Nation With Largest Growth of High-Income Taxpayers -- Carpe Diem

Link here.
"North Dakota takes the top spotreturns with AGI over $200,000 increased 144.53%, while all returns increased only 7.1%—a considerable difference of 137.4%. Michigan is last—returns over $200,000 increased only 17.6%, while total returns actually decreased by 0.5%, for a final difference of 18.1%."
You need to go to the link above to see the map.

It would have been fun to see the raw numbers; they may be there at the links if you follow them back far enough.

  1. Bruce they do break it down In 2009 vs 1999 4,109 more people had tax returns greater than $200K in North Dakota. (It grew from 2,843 returns to 6,952 returns.) Meanwhile for the decade the state only saw 7% more returns over the decade due to growth in population (I am assuming)

  2. That really is incredible isn't it? And 2009 was only two years into the Bakken in North Dakota. It will be interesting to see what the numbers will be in 2012.
