Update
After posting the story regarding the Scanlan below, others pointed out other good wells.
See the Berquist wells here.
Original Post
18770, 819, North Plains Energy, LLC; Scanlan 3-5H, Truax oil field, Middle Bakken; s6/10; t9/10; cum 150K 10/11; 21 stages; 2.1 million lbs; producing at 3,000 bbls/month 10/12;
So, this is what this all means:
- 18770: file number
- 819: IP
- North Plains Energy, LLC: current operator
- Scanlan 3-5H: name of well
- Truax: the oil field in North Dakota
- Bakken Pool
- s6/10: it was spudded 6/4/10
- t9/10: it was tested 9/8/10
- 87,835 totals bbls produced to date (just bbls of oil; does not include natural gas)
- F: flowing; no pump
- Production history:
Pool -- Month -- Days -- Bbls oil
BAKKEN 6-2011 25 4999
BAKKEN 5-2011 27 6449
Impressive as this is, I'm seeing trending for newer wells that will easily exceed 100,000 bbls in the first year. I'm monitoring the Banks field, where Zenergy is making a strong showing. Waiting to see what Brigham turns in on some recent wells there too.
ReplyDeleteChalk one up for advancing technology.
When I visited this well in mid-July it was stopped cold, as in not moving. Not sure for how long but I would expect the July numbers to be down somewhat.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct. I am being very conservative with regard to "good," "very good," "outstanding," etc.,when using the 100,000 bbls/first year milestone.
ReplyDeleteI was afraid of being seen as too irrationally exuberant if I started talking about the 100,000 bbl milestone being reached even earlier.
I updated the Scanlan above because someone sent me a note asking if I would do that. Also, it gave me a chance to remeind folks my shorthand when keeping track of an oil well.
Thank you for that update; maybe planning to do something with the well? Maybe adding a pump?
ReplyDeleteZenergy's Berquist well in the Banks field is still confidential but the sales runs are posted and this well produced and sold 46,585 bbls in two months!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a stand-alone post is in order.
ReplyDeleteThank you for that. I love it.
Thanks.
