A county in central Kansas experienced a pretty shocking uptick in seismic activity this week — 11 earthquakes in five days. It started with a magnitude-2.4 earthquake Wednesday morning just 2 1/2 miles southwest of Hutchinson, Kansas, in Reno County, according to the United States Geological Survey. There would be 10 more before the week was out.Unlikely that anyone felt a 2.4 magnitude but several subsequent earthquakes hit 4.0 or more.
Oil and gas activity in Kansas.
With all the wind farms in and around Hutchinson, KS, and knowing how deep the foundations for these turbines go, one wonders if wind farm activity is causing these earthquakes. LOL.
