Today's daily activity report, August 24, 2011 --
Operators: KOG (4), Slawson (3), Oasis (2), WLL, Legacy, Newfield, and OXY USA.
Fields: Camp, Antelope, Pembroke, Tobacco Garden, Willmen, and three wildcats.
It looks like Slawson has a 3-well pad; KOG has a 4-well pad.
Whiting, Oasis, and Legacy all have wildcats.
Eight wells were released from confidential status: it looks like 7 of the 8 were completed -- best completion ratio I've seen in some time. And some great wells, such as this one:
- 20383, 2,514, KOG, Koala 3-2-11-13H, Poe, Bakken
It's amazing to see the number of drilling permits being issued in ND and just across the border in MT, drilling permits are very few in number. This could change as time goes on but there is no comparison in the two areas.
ReplyDeleteI don't follow what's going on in Montana, but I have never seen such permit action in North Dakota as I have seen the last three days. It is quite incredibly. Maybe just an anomaly, and maybe back to three to six permits/day from now on, but these 13 - 18 permits/day is very remarkable.
ReplyDeleteAlmost 200 rigs and reaching total depth in less than 20 days; they are going to put in a lot of wells before the end of the year.
with 130 days left in year, 200 rigs taking 20 days to drill a well , would each drill 6.5 more wells this year. times 200 equals 1300 wells. so the 1000 number could be do able
ReplyDeleteOf course, most of the wells spudded in August or later will be on confidential list at end of year and we really won't know status for awhile. But it's getting very, very busy in the Bakken.
ReplyDeleteI've come back every year about this time, but I can honestly say I "feel" it's much busier this year. Normally we go to Economart for lunch and no waiting, no lines. Today, long lines. My sister says the line was very, very long at Subway today, something like 20 people, out the door. With the nice weather, it is very, very busy.
