Link here (regional link will break).
Test results from water samples taken in Williams County show that no oil from the recent Montana oil pipeline spill has traveled to North Dakota.

State Water Quality Director Dennis Fewless said results, which came in late Friday afternoon, came back negative for traces of oil.

  1. If the oil spill was properly contained up stream with booms, etc. then ND areas should not be impacted. An important cleanup practice is the removal of all vegetation along the river banks. In Texas, we have emergency response teams in place along river areas who are trained to respond quickly to any oil leaking in a waterway. Both Montana and ND should have teams in place who meet annually to discuss emergency response issues in regards to oil spills which impact waterways. The key to a successful cleanup is early containment and awareness of area. We have had numerous oil spills in waterway areas in Texas and it is amazing how quickly the different companies coordinate their cleanup efforts to properly contain spills.

  2. Actually I'm generally impressed how well and how quickly these companies respond to spills. Thank you for taking time to comment.
