That's the headline: EU Seeks Answers For Snow Nightmare
I can't make this stuff up. As expected "they" are blaming the current snowstorm and record cold spell on global warming -- too much water vapor (not CO2 this time). Water vapor is a much bigger component of greenhouse gases than CO2.
The snow nightmare is not unexpected. When governments spend a decade planning for global warming while failing to prepare for a more likely scenario, this is not a surprise. Anyone with a Farmer's Almanac would have known that winter storms would be a bigger issue than global warming. Sort of reminds me of the fable of the ant and the grasshopper.
Just saying.
I'm sure Humans are having an effect on the planet...just how much and is it quantifiable?
ReplyDeleteWasn't there a Volcanic Explosion earlier this year in Iceland? How come the media hasn't pointed to this example of why this Winter is colder? All that fine particulate matter in the upper atmosphere reflecting precious sunlight back into outer space must have some effect on the weather.
I don't think my first post took.
ReplyDeleteThere was a Volcanic Eruption this past year in Iceland...and Politicians in the EU can't figure out a connection between this event and a colder winter? I'm not a weather expert, but Volcanoes spew tons of particulate matter in the upper atmosphere, reflecting light back into space, which must have an affect on weather patterns.
I remember a couple years of brilliant sunsets here in CA after Mt. Pinatubo blew in the Philippines back in the early 90's.
During the age of the Vikings, 1000 A.D., the earth went through a warming stage. I can only assume it was due to all the diesel they were burning to power their "fast" ships.
ReplyDeleteAnd, of course, it was even hotter during the age of the dinosaurs, when to the best of my knowledge, except for the Flintstones, there weren't a whole lot of humans.
With regard to the volcanoes, yes, indeed, there has been stories about how volcanic action can lead to cooler periods.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a whole lot easier if George W. Bush were still president; we could just blame everything on him.

Rory says:
Shoot Bruce - the Obama and the left *STILL* blame stuff on Bush - so why not tack on global freezing too?!
