Remember, on the April dockets, NDIC: as many as 13 infill wells in 1280-acre spacing.
When I started this blog, "we" were looking at a single well in each section and only one pay zone. It is amazing how far "we" have come in two years.
Also,
- In general, many of the payzones are non-communicating
- Fracking multiple wells near each other results in a slightly but, apparently, not a significant decrease in production from additional wells
- Time will tell how this plays out -- all these infill wells and EURs
Bruce, I am not 100% sure on this, but our leases (and probably many others) were drawn up specifically for the Bakken formation (Bakken and Three Forks). I think this is through a Pugh clause on the leases. As I understand it, Our operator does not have the rights to the other formations or pay zones if they exist. So my point is that the operator may not hold some of their acreage for an eternity.

That would make sense if the lease specifies specific formations. I assume that may be more common in the future.
