Statoil's Beaux well may be a new record. I track record IPs at "FAQs," question #9.

Oasis drilled a dry well; the well file does not have any drilling data yet:
  • 25307, DRY, Oasis, Cottle 5892 21-30X, Cottonwood;
The Cottonwood is not a particularly good field, and the northern half appears to be very poor, compared to the southern half of the Cottonwood.

  1. I'm not a big fan of IP numbers, but the Statoil
    Beaux wells are noteworthy. The 4H with the
    IP of 5387 barrels of oil also had a gas volume
    of 9484 MCF. If you value the gas (methane and
    NGLs) at $6 per MCF and oil at $90 per barrel,
    the BOE would be 632 making the BOEPD for
    this well just over 6000. These wells just east
    of the Continental Resources high density multi-zone drilling units. It is a very interesting area.

    1. I agree with you regarding IPs. I have posted many discussions regarding IPs.

      It takes all my will-power not to say something "new" about IPs, but I won't.

      I'm starting to get a kick out of cumulative production of some of these better wells; Mike Filloon is also noting them.

      I am also starting to get a kick out of the number of infill wells we are starting to see in the "better" Bakken.

      It should be another incredible year.

      Thank you for taking time write.

      On a completely separate note, the current price of oil has really, really surprised me, and I think it's surprised a lot of folks. I can't believe it's all due to Mideast tensions; as Mideast tensions go, things are pretty quiet.
