ObamaCare? North Dakota Blue Cross to Raise Premiums As Much as 17 Percent; Lower Than What BC Sought -- Nothing To Do With The Bakken

Data points:
  • To take effect May 1, 2011
  • Won't affect employer groups: Individuals trying to go it alone are in a world of hurt
  • Annual rate increases: 2.4 to16.9 percent (based partly on when ObamaCare took effect)
  • Premium hikes were lower than those sought by the insurer (translation: wait until next year)

  1. Thanks for linking this Bruce. This is another data point that shows Obamacare (Romneycare style private insurance mandate)is unworkable. The single payer plan (medicare buy in)with the medicare low overhead rates is the way to go. (Also called single payer)

    Having a national health care insurance/payment system based on employment has never made sense to me even tho that is how I got my families ins for years.

    The employers drop coverage when employment terminates and believe me at that instant you are exposed in finacial sense. Most particularly if a family member has a
    "condition".

    Employers dont want the liability to cover previous employees or retirees who are under medicare eligable age. I understand that. And preexisting conditions kick in when the employee gets a new job. And very few employee plans (except maybe govt employeees) allow coverage if employment terminates before the (former) employee is medicare eligable.

    Military retirees do just fine tho under their government plan. Maybe the military retire plan could be offered to the public at a cost that covers services???
