Energy Transfer Excited About Two Projects -- One In The Bakken -- Motley Fool; In Other Notes, New Record Set -- September 2, 2019

Link here. Neither is new but a reminder how big the Bakken expansion project is.  Energy Transfer CFO highlighted two projects that the company is very excited about:
  • the joint venture with Shell to develop the Lake Charles LNG export facility; and,
  • market interest from shippers to consider expanding the Bakken DAPL pipeline from 0.570 million bopd to as much as 1.1 million bopd
Onshore record: Alaska well sets onshore record, reported over at Rigzone. Data points:
  • the international, supermajor, oil and gas producer was not identified
  • the record: the longest-reach on-shore well
  • TD = 32,468 feet (compare with standard lateral of 20,000 feet in the Bakken; and an extended long lateral in the Bakken at 24,000 feet)
  • reported by Houston-based technology startup Corva
  • Corva provided real-time drilling and completion analytics during the operation
  • in the National Petroleum Reserve of Alaska's North Slope
  • advanced technology apparently used to prevent drill string breaks that would require removing and replacing the entire string
Philadelphia refiner: the one that recently declared bankruptcy is looking for a buyer. Nothing else to be reported.

  1. Another half million sounds like a too-big expansion. I doubt we have that kind of growth out of the Bakken with prices in the 50s. But maybe there are already some rail volumes to be transferred.

    1. The company already said they had support from the operators. It's my understanding they can't get the permits if they don't have the commitments from the operators. Regardless, this won't happen overnight. This will take awhile to ramp up to full capacity even if it's approved. But for me, it's a no-brainer. No additional digging or new pipeline; simply another above-ground pump and a bit of technology.
