A few years ago, when Buffett bought IBM I said "well, that just proves how smart I am to have long owned far before he ever did". When he quickly reversed and sold at $170/per share or so, I wondered... "What does he know that I don't? "
ReplyDeleteI didn't sell.... Big mistake. Now comes HPQ, which I've owned about as long as IBM (think 1985).... what does he know that I don't know?
Answer to all of the above questions? I know Bupkis! We commoners haven't a prayer when investing compared to folk with serious money.
You are "laser focused" on dividends? I'm laser focused of P/E ratios. If a company can't earn its dividend.... well, one can only eat one's seed corn so long.
Thus sayeth the old grouch~
Agree 1000%. Never too late to learn from one's "mistakes."
