Daily Activity Report

It looks like there will be about sixteen (16) wells that come off the "tight hole" list today, including:
OXY's Dimond field well is still another example of the IPs for this field for OXY.

Note the Hess well in Manitou field. Hess just got permits for six more wells in this field.

BEXP, of course, has another great well. So, what else is new?

And yet another CLR well in Brooklyn oil field north of Williston.

But, perhaps most impressive, is a Whiting IP of 200 for a Red River well as good as OXY's Bakken wells in the Dimond field. And the Red River wells are vertical, inexpensive, and a sure thing. In addition, Red River wells do not have the hyperbolic decline curves of the Bakken.

  1. Thank you. I missed that and I even checked earlier today. Ties record. Obviously the oil glut not concerning to the operators. By the way, background stories suggest the the glut will be temporary.

  2. Bruce - just a note for your info: Red River wells are not a sure thing. There are many, many dry holes in search for these Red River fields. They are not a resource driven play; they are dependent upon structure.

    1. You are correct. I knew I would get some flack on that one.

But let's see how many dry holes Whiting gets with their one one rig targeting the Red River. So far, in the last year or so, I am not aware of (m)any?

    2. Of what has been reported thus far...

Whiting hit their last two wells; Peplinski IP 200 (9-141-105), and Maus IP 282 (22-141-104). Yet a little over a year ago they reported the Jones well (35-143-105) as a dry hole.

No report yet on two other wells drilled in 2011; Brookhart 11-14 (14-141-105), and Nistler 21-25H (25-141-105). So while I'd agree this isn't a "sure thing", I agree with you that Whiting appears to be providing an interesting new development outside the Bakken window.

    1. Just more evidence how badly the Canadians needed that Keystone XL.
