I've been following this story for the past two weeks, but never posted it because it did not interest me enough to post it. Union workers were going to go on strike against Baker Hughes. The union said they were prepared to strike for years.
I guess it was hyperbole. The strike was called off before it was scheduled to begin. Link to Rigzone.
Bruce, I am a long time reader of your blog and hope to be for a very long time.
ReplyDeleteOver the last couple of days I and many others have been denied access to YOUR blog as you already know. Apparently this is due to someone or some corporation enforcing their views (which by the way may have political undertones) of what content is right and what is wrong for viewers on the internet.
Of all the things this censorship has happened to a blog. I thought a blog was an open source platform for someone to express their views, knowledge and excitement for something or anything within the law. To allow people to share, gather and discuss. Apparently this is not the case and it's a real eye opener for me.
The totally unbelievable action of being denied access to something I queried on the internet due to someone or some company disagreeing with the content of that site whose content is so knowledgeable, helpful and benign is to me utterly angering.
Tonight I have a totally different view of the internet and those who control it whether it be a handful of individuals who are dissatisfied with the content of a site or a corporate monopoly.
If I choose to access a site that I enjoy, I don't need the internet parents or a disgruntled reader or two deciding if I can or cannot. They in turn have the right not to visit that site if they find it not to their liking. I find many sites that do not fit my taste and I just don't visit again.
This is censorship at its worst. Things are out of hand in my view. America is freedom of speech. This feels like the former Soviet Union or China.
This blackout also brought to light that if you weren't out there pumping out the news for the Bakken blogesphere that many of us would have to subside on the BSDG (yes you know what that is). There wouldn't be any current news. It would be like watching paint dry in 90% humidity.
Bruce, I and many others have said it before. Your site is invaluable. There are many that count on you for all the major news stories of the basin and better yet the obscure ones. If you ever went off the air how would all of us get the in depth information you provide? Many if not most live out of state I am sure.
Keep up the good fight, stay on track and thanks again for an enjoyable read EVERYDAY!
Thank you for the kind words. I hope to open this up again to "all" without registration in a couple of weeks. I really didn't mean to cause all this aggravation with invites, log-ins, etc.
DeleteBut yet, I will continue to blog. Even, occasionally a note for my granddaughters. Smile.
