Tuesday, May 13, 2014; Update On Northstar Center; RBN Energy Has Another Post On Flaring In North Dakota

A billion-dollar development is taking shape northwest of Williston. KNET is reporting (a huge "thank you" to a reader for sending me these to links):
Murphy Motors is navigating the high-speed course of the Bakken.
When Pat Murphy was looking for a place to expand, he decided to go with a custom build.
He's abandoning Million Dollar Way, moving North to a billion dollar development.

Northstar Center will be a mixed use development, 535 acres all within city limits.
I've been told Murphy Motors is the #1 Chevrolet Corvette dealer in the United States (see first comment).

RBN Energy: can ND flaring be cut to levels seen in Texas?
There is talk that natural gas flaring in the Bakken is peaking and will soon start to decline. But even the most optimistic forecast has the share of gas being flared falling from the current 30% plus to between 5 and 10% by 2020. That goal is still 10 to 20 times the 0.5% share of gas being flared in Texas. Can more be done to reduce Bakken flaring to Texas levels? Today we look at what it would take to slow Bakken flaring to a flicker.
The Wall Street Journal

Washington State insurer expects to lower health insurance premiums next year (2015).

Not everyone in Michigan is happy with a $200 million aid package to speed Detroit out of bankruptcy.

Three railroad employees were arrested and will face charges of criminal negligence in connection with July's derailment of a Bakken-crude-carrying train in eastern Canada that killed 47 people.

  2. yeah, at one time it was suggested Murphy's was the #1 dealer, but later they said they were in the top 10. They said they are the #1 dealer in the midwest....but again, which states are included in the midwest? But they sell a lot of corvettes none the less.

    1. I just find it fascinating that "Murphy Motors," Williston, Corvettes, #1, come up in the same paragraph, if not the same sentence. Thank you for taking time to comment.

This link is a little more detailed than the Bloomberg on Williston Crossing. You don't need to post this if you don't want, but thought you'd like to read the history of the developers of Williston Crossing. Sounds like they are legit, have the resource funds already in place, intend to break ground March 2015 with completion date of 2017. They have a huge history of million of square feet of retail, malls, etc... I think this might actually be for real. The location is in question. It is near the 4 mile west of town. The only available acreage left on 2/85 going into WIlliston (west of town) is the large parcel between the McCody concrete office building and Schlumberger's new facilty. I'm not sure if there is 228 acres? but possiblly. Otherwise, the only other land is west of the 4 mile on the south side of the highway....between the 4 mile and Trenton turn off? Could be interesting. Unless they are talking about the new interchange and bypass NORTH of Williston where Pat Murphy is planning his North Star Center (550 acre development breaking ground in June)

    1. I think you may be correct: going to be north of town.

West of Williston has really turned into the "industrial park" inside the "Williams County Bakken industrial park," as it were.

The link, by the way, has some other interesting information for readers, which I will note in the stand-alone post for this comment. Thank you for taking time to write. This is an incredible link; I google Williston Crossing, etc., but did not come across this site. Thank you.
