Weekly petroleum report: to be released at 9:30 a.m. CT later today.
Jobs: Making America great again. We'll get the link later but right now CNBC is reporting that the ADP is reporting that America gained 250,000 workers in December. I assume the official figures and the unemployment rate will be released later today or tomorrow (Monday was a holiday and threw everything off by a day. Wow, thank goodness, General Eisenhower didn't unknowingly plan D-Day to fall after a holiday. It could have delayed everything by 24 hours. And the moonless night would have become a crescent-moon night.)
Jobless claims:
- first time jobless claims: 250,000, up 3,000 from slightly revised previous month data
- job cut announcements lowest in 27 years -- lowest since 1990
Oil: deepwater drilling looks enticing to oil sector.
