US LNG Exports -- Update -- Projection -- April 18, 2024

Locator: 47036LNG.

Again, this is simply incredible. An 18% increase in anything should get one's attention.

It would be interesting to see what the US could do if we had a pro-energy administration.

  1. the EIA is behind the curve again...

based on what's under construction, i expect LNG exports to double by 2029...

moreover, there's over 40 North American LNG export plants underway or on the drawing board....there's only 7 running now, and Freeport is down most of the time, so go figure...

    1. One thing I learned from the blog, oil fields become gassier as they age. In addition, the US natural gas fields have ratcheted back due to too much natural gas .... if global demand requires it, US LNG exports can certainly double.

  2. i added a comment to the EIA's twitter post:

in case you missed it, you also expect LNG export capacity to more than double through 2027:
    https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=60944
LNG export capacity from North America is likely to more than double through 2027
(the Mexican exports are Permian basin gas)

    1. Thank you. The EIA and IEA never fail to under-estimate US potential.... but that's not surprising -- bureaucrats in the former (EIA, IEA) and entrepreneurs among the E&P crowd.
