Rocky Ridge Oil Field

On Monday, a well in Rocky Ridge oil field will come off the confidential list. Odds are it will be dry.

Rocky Ridge oil field is very irregularly shaped, running diagonally about 13 miles from its northwest corner down to its southeast corner. It has about 20 sections in all. It's a Tyler-Heath oil field. There are 72 permits/wells for that field including some that go all the way back to the late 1950's. Status of the wells/permits:
  • six (6) of those permits: PNC
  • nineteen (19) are permanently abandoned
  • three (3) are inactive
  • one (1)  well is still active (#6015)
  • one (1) is confidential -- it should come off the list Monday
  • forty-one (41) wells were dry
As dismal as those numbers suggest, four of the wells made it to the "monster well" list:
  • 1304, 1,224/PA, TXO Production, Lucy Fritz 1, Rocky Ridge, t1/57; cum 1.05 million 5/83;
  • 4971, 422/IA, Howie 11X2, Rocky Ridge, Heath, t1/71; cum 781K 11/13;
  • 8527, 257/IA, Omimex, Fritz A 1-R, Rocky Ridge, Heath, t6/71; 42 years; cum 712K 6/14;
  • 9869, PA/20, JN Exploration, Privratsky 1, Zenith, a Heath well, t11/82; cum 614K 6/98;
