The Enerplus "Winter" Pad Updated -- September 25, 2021

This page will not be updated. These wells are tracked elsewhere.

Several things to note that a lot of analysts don't understand about the Bakken:

  • no rigs factored into this huge jump in production 10/20;
  • likewise, no rigs factored into another huge jump in production 5/21;
  • operators in the Bakken don't report a single well periodically; they often report an entire pad at one time; the drilling costs were sunk costs as much as two years earlier; note: drilling costs don't include fracking costs; total costs = drilling + completion (fracking)
  • in addition, they control when to "open" the pad
  • a lot like growing / storing / selling wheat
