Market: I didn't have much time for the market today -- starting with Cramer's first ten minutes and finishing the day with ten minutes of Cramer, but nothing really in between.
Everyone seemed to discombobulated with regard to Nvidia. Having a 30-year horizon certainly helps. Someday we're going to look back on "today" wonder why we let this opportunity slip by. I did see a headline this evening that mom-and-pop retail investors "set a record" of some sort buying Nvidia while the big institutions were selling.
On another note, Cramer doesn't seem himself lately. Nothing obvious; something subtle. Definitely looks older; new glasses.
Netflix: the Trump family won again. Or so it appears. Semafor Business. Link here. Netflix investors applauded.
Cheniere (LNG): huge story -- Charles Kennedy, link here. This is simply amazing --

From the article:
In the town hall, Gates opened up about his personal life. “I did have affairs, one with a Russian bridge player who met me at bridge events, and one with a Russian nuclear physicist who I met through business activities,” he told staff.
So, there's that.

This is a long read.
I read to the end but scanned much of it, so I may have missed it, but I did not see what the author recommends as an alternative. Perhaps that is in the book.
But it's worth a read -- but it will take quite awhile. It's only one chapter from Plastic Inc, Beth Gardiner, c. 2026. Link here.
No, I don't have plans to read the book.
Has there been any success in developing biodegradable plastic used in packaging?
So, there is a fix.

"Peanut Butter raises."
Quick! Name the biggest "entity" that has used the "peanut butter raises" concept for decades? US Department of War aka Department of Defense.
TSP: Thrift Savings Program. This may have been the biggest "thing" (financially) that ever happened to me when DOD began to offer TSP to all members, and at the same time, grandfathering in current active duty members with the existing pension, back on October 1, 2001. Now, President Trump is thinking of offering this program to any American earning a W-2 form who works for a company that does not offer a pension. My hunch: if this happens, it will eventually be extended to a much larger group. It's George Bush's vision to provide an alternative to social security. Does this president ever sleep?

Maybe I "spoke" too fast. Was annual revenue y/y reported above? If so, I missed it. Apparently SRE missed revenue estimate by a huge amount. Link here.Sempra Energy reported fourth quarter EPS of $1.28, $0.05 better than the analyst
estimate of $1.23. Revenue for the quarter came in at $3.75B versus the
consensus estimate of $4.25B. Ouch. Blame it on:

New wells reporting:
RBN Energy: why accounting methods matter. Link here.
As E&Ps release a flood of year-end results, investors, analysts and industry observers scrutinize annual reports to compare the performance of upstream oil and gas companies. Yet, despite operating in the same shale basins, drilling similar wells and facing the same commodity price environment, some producers report markedly different financial results that are often not driven by geology, operational execution or management strategy. Instead, they stem from accounting methodology, specifically from whether a company uses the Full Cost (FC) or Successful Efforts (SE) method to account for its oil and gas properties. In today’s RBN blog, we explain why this seemingly mundane topic really matters.
Reading about accounting methods may not seem super exciting, but it’s not that much different than filing taxes. Every spring, millions of us sit down with our W-2s and yet two households earning almost identical money can report far different taxable income because of accounting rules — exactly what happens with upstream oil and gas companies, too. These rules are essential to understanding how oil and gas producers are doing financially and otherwise.
