How Crazy Is The Bakken -- This Well Is Hardly Noteworthy -- "Only" 300K In Two Years -- August 22, 2020

How crazy has the Bakken become? For me, I'm losing interest in any well that reports less than 40,000 bbls/month in early / initial production. In the early days of the boom, it was not uncommon for most wells to produce less than 40,000 bbls the first year, or so it seems.

A Closer Look At A String Of Kraken TFH Wells In The Sanish --June 3, 2020

Many years ago, Lynn Helms opined that all things being equal, Three Forks wells might be better than middle Bakken wells.

Up until now, 90% of the Sanish oil field wells were middle Bakken wells. New permits suggest operators are moving toward half-and-half: new permits in Tier 1 areas are half middle Bakken, and half Three Forks wells.

I don't believe I have ever posted a multi-well pad with all TFH wells. If not, here is the first example:

• a "toe-down, three-string, double section lateral"
• the build took a bit longer than usual due to a mud motor failure; no big deal;
• the lateral portion: from the evening of October 4, 2019, to TD, early morning, just after midnight, October 8, 2019, without incident (about 3.5 days)

• lower Bakken: 2006 units

OMG! CLR Did It Again -- The Dreaded Bakken Decline -- Another Carus Permit -- June 1, 2020

The dreaded Bakken decline:

• the well was drilled back in 2007;
• in 2019, production jumped from 700 bbls / month to 40,000 bbls/month, a 57-fold jump in production;
• then another jump in production a few months later, from 20,278 bbls over 30 days to 33,200 bbls over 29 days;

We highlighted the Carus family of wells back in November, 2019. They are back in the news with a new CLR Carus permit. The Carus wells are tracked here. At that link, the most recently added permit has been added, #37606. In the immediate area is the actively producing well below:

MRO Reports Another Huge Well In Reunion Bay -- May 1, 2020

I mentioned this a month or so ago: it's going to be hard to keep track of wells coming off the confidential list or DUCs that don't report an IP -- see sidebar at the right.

Another example. When this well came off the confidential list, no IP was reported, but it was reported as being on DRL status:

Production Data For A "New" CLR Wahpeton Well Now Available -- May 1, 2020

I mentioned this a month or so ago: it's going to be hard to keep track of wells coming off the confidential list or DUCs that don't report an IP -- see sidebar at the right:

Here's a great example. On March 26, 2020, this well was a DUC reported as being completed, but no IP provided:

• 35914, SI/A, CLR, Wahpeton 16-16H1, Banks, t--; cum --; fracked 12/6/19 - 12/17/19; 7.1 million lbs; 88.42% water by mass; friction reduction, 0.06511;

So, just on a whim, I checked the status of this well. The status: unchanged; still listed as SI/A. However, we now have some production data, and it looks like a great well. Note that all natural gas was sold in March, 2020. The Wahpeton wells are traced here:
