CDC data suggests 50.33% of Americans over the age of 16 are considered fully vaccinated.
With another 15% to 30% who have probably had the infection but have not been tested / confirmed, "we" must be well on our way to herd immunity, except perhaps for those under the age of 16 and in school.
Because we have three granddaughters in public school -- two in high school and one in first grade -- we are notified if any students, teaching staff, administrative staff, or custodial or other staff test positive for Covid-19. Months ago we used to get about three notifications per week.
I cannot remember when the last notification was made. In other words, in one of the largest school districts in the state, it has been several weeks, maybe two months, since we have been notified of any student or staff testing positive.
I don't know about the high school, but almost all elementary students are back in school. Sophia, six years old, first grade, is one of the very few still in her class to be learning remotely.
