A reader tells me the North Dakota Highway Patrol engaged in a high-speed chase west of Bismarck. Apparently things came to an end when the driver of the forklift stopped to charge the electric vehicle. NDHP would have closed in more quickly but the governor told law enforcement to "give the man room, don't give him a reason to flip one of our cruisers." Uff-da!

Christmas tradition: Sophia was fortunate enough to attend The Nutcracker today. This has become a real family tradition. Grammy takes the granddaughters to the ballet to ensure that they each all see it at least once. I think the two older granddaughters saw it twice while the family lived in Boston.

Today, was Sophia's first time to see it. While others were reading the program, Sophia was reading The Nutcracker of the "Little Golden Book" series.

I've never seen it.

The reviews are in: the Boston ballet's Nutcracker is several times better than the Dallas ballet's staging. But Sophia enjoyed it all.

A reader noted that this well coming off the confidential list this week might be an interesting one to watch:

• 34711, conf, Armstrong Operating, Harvest States 7-11, Eland, no production data, 

Because it's on the confidential list, I don't know much more about it, but I will bet it's not a Bakken well. LOL. I would be very, very surprised if it's anything but a vertical (or possibly a directional) well targeting the Lodgepole.

For newbies: I talked about "Lodgepole" a long, long time ago (back in 2009). That was in the early days of the blog; I didn't know much about "oil" then so there may be amateurish errors in that post. That entry is linked at the sidebar at the right. I have not read that post lately, and I have not updated it or corrected any typographical or factual errors. 

It's my "belief" that hitting the Lodgepole in the Dickinson area is a hit or miss: if it's a "hit," it's most likely going to be a monster well; but unlike the Bakken, hitting the Lodgepole is a bit tougher. Having said that, looking at the NDIC map, there doesn't appear to be many dry holes in Eland or Patterson Lake.

A reader asked if I could "clarify the Gloria one and the Hartman well nearby." It was noted that the "Gloria" well comes off the confidential list this week.

There are many, many Hartman wells in Jim Creek, but the only one that is "near" the Gloria well coming off confidential well this week is the Isabelle Hartman well, #17971.

#34892 comes off confidential list this week. Because it's on the confidential list I can't say much about it, but it is most likely on a drilling unit of 1280 acres, running north. The scout ticket says it's a "Jim Creek" well which suggests it will run north; if it were running south, it would be a Murphy Creek well. I believe #34892 and #17971 are in different drilling units. For sure, #17971 is 1280 acres, running east-west. According to a sundry form dated September 2, 2018, for #17971, "MRO has set a freshwater impoundment on this pad to support nearby fracking operations on the Gloria Pad which have recently finished completions."

Random Update Of CLR's Bonneville 41-23H, #17088 -- December 2, 2018

This page will not be updated.

Two wells are discussed on this page. One is an older middle Bakken well; the other is a newer Three Forks B1 well. The two horizontals of these two wells are very close together; in fact at one point, they "cross" each other.

The closest a neighboring middle Bakken well to #17088 is almost exactly one-third mile, or 1,584 feet, away.

Later, 1:10 p.m. CT: a reader sent me this link regarding an historic park at Madelia, MN.

The Jesse James Theme Park is the first ever of its kind in the nation. It is hand crafted by Arnie Lillo with life size individual metal cut outs of the many 1870’s horses and characters, and tells the story of what happened to Jesse and Frank James and the Younger brothers gang in this area of Minnesota in Sept 1876. From riding into Northfield, to robbing the bank, to leaving town, killing of Charlie Pitts and the capture of the Younger brothers, the full story is told precisely as Minnesota history knows it to be. But uniquely illustrated in life size metal artwork.

The Jesse James Gang was credited with over 25 bank robberies during the years of 1866 and 1881. Although, it was hard for the gang to openly admit to being involved in any activity that might result in their legal detainment, history ha been able to piece together over $270,000 in robberies from Missouri to Minnesota, Alabama to West Virginia, Kentucky to Mississippi. From the passengers' point of view, you may not have returned with your possessions, but at least you had a story to tell that you were robbed by the best - the James - Younger Gang.

From Minnesota, look at the snowfall. Sent to me by reader. Thank you. More to follow. Temperatures have been well below normal for this time of year -- off the norm by about 7 degrees. With global warming expected to warm the earth by about 3 degrees above the norm, it looks like Minnesota / North Dakota will average out just about right 82 years from now.

Back to the snowfall:

According to the reader, Madelia, MN, is pretty much smack dab in the middle of the state.

The reader noted that in his home town, 21 area churches are closed. It takes a lot of snow for Scandinavians to close church.
