35728, Oasis, Joplin 5397 41-32 2B:
  • 17 miles northeast of Watford City; 
  • second of two wells on this pad
  • target: middle Bakken
  • big rig: re-entered May 17, 2019
  • vertical drilled to 10,580'
  • KOP landed at 11,432', approx 12' below the base of the lower Bakken shale
  • formations:
    • upper Bakken shale (Mississipppian): entered at 11,102' TVD
    • middle Bakken (Mississippian-Devonian): entered at 11,019' TVD (sic)
  • target zone was 18' thick zone, beginning 11' below the base of the upper Bakken shale and extending to 11' above the lower Bakken shale;
  • lateral was drilled with three separate BHAs, reaching TD of 22,560' MD on May 28th, 2019
  • lateral drilled in five days; exposed 11,148' of uncased hole, entirely within the middle Bakken
  • background gas throughout the later: 300. - 3,500 units; averaging around 2,000 units
  • 5 - 12' trip flare noted;

  • first of two wells on this pad
  • target: Three Forks, 1st bench
  • big rig: re-entered on April 29, 2019
  • vertical hole drilled to depth of 5,971' (sic) 
  • the 819' curve (from KOP to curve total depth) was drilled in 11.25 hours using a single BHA
  • curve was successfully landed at 11,489' MD, approximately 32' below the Pronghorn
  • the lateral was drilled using two separate BHAs
  • reached TD of 22,465' on May 12, 2019
  • formations:
    • upper Bakken shale (Mississipppian): entered at 11,101' TVD
    • middle Bakken (Mississippian-Devonian): entered at 11,020 TVD (sic)
    • lower Bakken (Devonian): entered at 11,064' TVD
    • Pronghorn (Devonian): entered at 11,090' TVD; light to medium brown oil staining; looks to be about four feet thick;
    • Three Forks, 1st bench (Devonian): entered at 11,094' TVD; tan to light brown dolomire and light blue to pale gray shale; the shale was soft to friable, earthy in texture, and contained variable amounts of disseminated pyrite; visible intercrystalline porosity and light brown spotty oil staining;
  • target: a 20' thick zone, beginning 12' below the base of the Pronghorn and extending to 8' above the claystone
  • background gas throughout the lateral ranged from 250 - 3,000 units, averaging around 1,600 units;
    • gas connections ranged from 200 units to over 6,100 units; a 5 - 12' trip flare observed
  • the lateral portion was drilled in a total of four days; exposed 10,996' of uncased hole; entirely within the Devonian Three Forks 1st bench
So, again, the drilling times in the Bakken, the goal/standard, big rig:
  • completing the vertical in one to two days (24 to 36 hours)
  • completing the curve in twelve hours, up to 18 hours
  • completing a two-section lateral in as little as four days, generally less than six day, with exceptions
