Update on Continental Resources in the Bakken -- Seeking Alpha

Mike Filloon has a very nice update of Continental Resources at Seeking Alpha.com

This may be one of his best posts; I highly recommend it to all newbies even if they are not interested in CLR.

  1. Thanks for the link to the Filloon piece about CLR. It was interesting how output is improved by increasing fracking sections. The info about "choking back" was informative as well. The well that affects us is near Burian so we are keeping an eye on that as well. We are new at all this so any info is appreciated.

    1. I agree; I was too busy to comment when I posted that link but I thought that was one of the better posts by Mike Filloon with regard to information.

  2. Continental Resources is the steady Eddie of the North Dakota oil industry. They are interested in doing it right. Being flashy isn't their main goal. Their performance speaks for itself.

    1. One of the things I have enjoyed about blogging is sorting out the business plans/strategies of the various operators. I would not have noted this if I had only been casually interested in the Bakken.

      You are correct:
      a) CLR is the "steady Eddy." They are operators or participating non-operators in one out of six wells drilled in the Bakken. They know the geology.

      b) I think CLR is providing a lesson in how to develop a field -- the Brooklyn field in this case -- with one rig and doing the same thing over and over. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they take their new hires and educate them on this rig with experienced hands.
