  1. That chart represents the aggregate balance In a number of money market accounts. A money market account contains MONEY. So the aggreate balance of all the accounts has fluctuated. How do you know the fluctuation is “non trivial”. The money is still in the accounts it has not vaporized or been icinerated or been stolen. I have money in money markets as residue of stock transactions. The brokerage automatically deposits any cash in the account in a money market so as to receive some (paltry) return. Some investors in stocks put money in money markets during times that they elect to be “on the sidelines “. So yes your “favorite” chart is trivial both in magnitude and in financial meaning. Only thing is it is not fdic insured for what is it now up to 250k like bank accounts.

      On another note, I wonder why my bank eliminated overdraft fees and other fees?
