  1. I am a premium subscriber, but I don't see where you are pulling the information on the amount of sand/proppant and number of frack stages. Where is this available?

    Thanks, enjoy the blog.

    1. I have "Basic Services." At "Basic Services," I click on "Well Production" at the sidebar at the left, near the bottom (requires a password, through "Basic Services"). When I click on "Well Production," it brings me to a new site in which I type the well file number, which brings me to the "scout ticket."

At the "scout ticket," click on "Get Well File."

This is where it can become tricky -- it was for me when I first got started.

One is looking for a 3-page sundry form called "Well Completion Or Recompletion Report - Form."

If it is a recently completed well, that form may not be scanned in. If the form is scanned in, and it's a relatively recently completed well, the 3-page form is usually near the beginning of the file (near the top; most recent; you don't have to scroll down very far).

The first page of the form has the information about the well; the second page has the "geological markers"; and, the third page has the stimulation (fracking) data.

If the sundry form is there but there is not third page, then go back to the first page. When there is no third page, often the well was technically not stimulated. This is the case in a lot of the MRO wells currently being reviewed. In that case the first page of the sundry form might show it as an OH (open hole) stimulation, and typed in will be the amount of proppant and water.

If it is a standard frack, that information will be on the third page.

To date, I have not been finding fracking data for the MRO wells that are being re-fracked or fracked for the first time, however it is being defined.

    3. Thank you for your feedback. I don't always hear back. Again, I don't understand a lot of what I read in the file reports. I certainly don't catch all the nuances in the file reports, and I often use "incorrect" language or words trying to describe something. I'm still learning.
