The Night The Lights Went Out In Dallas -- September 15, 2023

Locator: 45660ARCH.

From a week or so ago.

The lights really didn't "go out in Dallas." We lost power for about four hours when a transformer blew in the local area -- too many EVs plugged in at the same time, I suppose. My engineering son-in-law explained the most common reason for "transformers to blow": slightly poor design; unrelenting hot weather driving heavy use (a/c); and, age.

So, we spent the evening at Chicken N Pickle, tasting -- only tasting -- various local craft beers and watching the NFL's opening season: the Kansas City Chiefs playing some other team.

Wow, I look pretty serious in this photo. I was either upset that this was not the "Hop and Sting" I expected or ... or something else.

ARM: the more I think about the Arm IPO -- wow -- what a throwback to earlier times. This is not quantum computing. This is not even AI. This is legacy -- and I'm talking really, really legacy -- CPU technology. ARM is to Nvidia as the local carnival is to Disneyworld.

I guess I better put in a disclaimer.

Also, time for a musical interlude. Coming.
