Two Wells Coming Off Confidential List -- September 21, 2022

Putin: here.

Nukes: there are few things in life about which one should not bluff unless truly prepared to go that route:

  • divorce; and,
  • nuclear weapons.

SPR: if we're truly looking at WWiii, perhaps draining the SPR for midterm votes was a bad idea

  • that might be the political talk
  • in fact, the SPR no longer matters
  • the new SPR: Texas Permian, New Mexico Permian, Eagle Ford, and the Bakken

Keystone XL: too bad it was killed by President Biden on his first day in office.

  • US shale oil: 30 days from spud to pipeline
  • Canadian oil: would already be in the pipeline today, every day,

WWiii:

  • Covid-19? Really?
  • global warming? Really?
  • stagflation? Really?

Optics:

  • generally presenters cover the logo on the laptop computer they're using
  • wow, this morning on "Get Up" one presenter -- a Super-Bowl-ring wearer is using an Apple laptop, most likely a MacBook Air (possibly a "Pro" -- which would make the "pro" using a "Pro")

RBN Energy: is Europe ready for a winter without Russian gas?

It’s been another tumultuous few months for natural gas prices, particularly amid what European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has called Russia’s war on Europe’s energy and economy.
Europe is staring down aggressive curtailments of Russian gas supplies and rising consumer utility bills, necessitating austerity measures and beyond to bail out consumers and utilities and prevent a dangerous shortfall this winter. Prices in continental Europe have now topped $20/MMBtu for a year, higher than the previous single-day record. On top of the elevated prices, outrageous spikes higher and lower have become a semi-regular occurrence as the gas market struggles to find balance. And high prices and volatility are not going anywhere anytime soon as Europe braces for a winter with little or even no Russian gas. In today’s RBN blog we look at European gas prices, the latest energy policy proposal from the EC and how U.S. LNG exports fit into the ongoing crisis.
