At The Sistine Chapel

Later, from our younger daughter who knows Kinder Eir better than anyone I know:
The Kinder Joys you see at the store, that are to resemble the Kinder Eir of Europe, may be by the same brand and they may have found a way to sell their egg shaped chocolate with a toy in it, but I can assure you it is NOT the same.  I won't buy them anymore.  I bought one and tried it, not the same.  But when well meaning friends or family buy me it, I will eat it, but for the price they tend to be, not worth it when you know what the real deal is.
By the way, our older daughter says the same thing: the "American" Kinder Eggs are not the same and the chocolate is not as good.

Original Post

From a few days ago, a photograph of the granddaughters in the Sistine Chapel where they could purchase the "genuine" Kinder Eir.

They noted that the US bans the Kinder Eir due to choking hazard (small plastic toy inside each Kinder Eir, much like Cracker Jacks) but the AK-47 is pretty much widely available in the US.

According to wiki:
United States. The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act prohibits confectionery products which contain a “non-nutritive object”, unless the non-nutritive object has functional value. ... Kinder Surprise eggs are legal in Canada and Mexico, but are illegal to import into the US.
The US fine for smuggling Kinder Eir into the states? $2,500/egg.

Apparently the Kinder Eir may now be available in the US. It seems like I've seen them. If so, this explains how Ferrero cracked the code, as they say.

On another note, we're getting updates on their sailing trip in the Aegean. They had six days of incredibly beautiful, breezy weather, perfect for sailing. On one of the days, an unexpected storm kicked up -- very, very quickly. They called it "hurricane winds." Probably not quite that bad but quite alarming. The boat turned sideways into the waves and was listing close to 45 degrees or worse. Quick thinking on the part of the skipper and great teamwork by the three saved the boat from capsizing.

The Nation's Natural Gas Fill Rate -- This May Be A Record-Setting Year -- June 16, 2019

This is quite incredible: spend some time on this one, from a reader, regarding the nation's natural gas fill rate:
"The 981 billion cubic feet of natural gas that have been added to storage over the past 11 weeks has been the largest injection of gas into storage on record for any similar period this early in the injection season, probably about double the average 11 week build of the past decade, as the 712 billion cubic feet that were added during the same 11 weeks of 2014 was the only year that even appeared close... "
We've become accustomed to triple digit injections, but scanning the recent decade's spreadsheet, I find that in most years we only had one triple digit inventory build all summer, most often in the fall. The only exceptions were 2014 and 2015, and the June curve in 2014 was the only one as steep as the May curve this year ... so we may be on our way to a record year...
This came in as a comment to the post this past week regarding the NG fill rate

Incredibly Green, Lush North Texas -- June 16, 2019

In the thirteen years that we have lived in Texas, I do not remember the foliage being so lush, so green. The prolonged cool weather, the incredible amount of rain, and most importantly, the increase in atmospheric CO2 has really made the foliage so incredibly green, so incredibly lush. Hopefully atmospheric CO2 continues to rise; the plants will love it.

The Chilean National Anthem

....goes longer than "allowed" by the powers that be. No problem ... the Chileans sing the last bars a cappella.

Meanwhile, for one of the American players, the national anthem is all about her. A true millennial.

McKenzie Golf Course Expansion; Whiting Donation Brings Obstetrics Back To Watford City -- June 16, 2019

First, the Whiting donation:
While the McKenzie Healthcare Systems Inc. has not been able to offer obstetrics services to the women of McKenzie County for over 20 years, thanks to the generous donation of Whiting Oil and Gas, those services will return to the new hospital. On June 6, representatives of Whiting presented a check for $200,000 to help underwrite the cost of a new labor and delivery wing at the hospital.
And that's not all. Equinor donates $22,000 to emergency services in northwestern North Dakota. Press release from Equinor.

I'm still waiting for announcements of similar donations from the wind and solar energy companies operating in North Dakota.

For golfers, McKenzie County okays $1 million for the Fox Hills golf course expansion. Link here
