Williston is the fastest-growing micropolitan area in the country; Dickinson, third; and, Minot is 25th fastest. In the nation. Among the nation's counties with populations of 10,000 or more, Williams (ND), Richland (MT), and Stark (ND) are among the top five fastest-growing counties in the nation.

An NDSU study says the economic impact of the state's oil industry increased nearly sevenfold in terms of dollars between 2005 and 2011: $4.4 billion in 2005; $30.4 billion in 2011.

Williston has fastest-growing park district in the US.

Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services (AE2S) has purchased the building that formerly housed the Trinity Community Clinic. The article does not say where Trinity is moving. That was probably announced a long time ago and I have forgotten.

A consortium of energy companies working in the Bakken has given $100,000 to the WHS auditorium for renovation.

Home Depot coming to Minot.

All commercial acreage in Crosby's new Southridge Acres addition has been spoken for.

"Bakken Spillover" creates housing shortage in southeast ND. For newbies Fargo is about a 400-mile drive to Williston; that's how far some folks are commuting, or at least housing their families while they work in the oil patch. This story has been posted earlier.

A California developed has moved to Watford City to build homes; previously reported.

    1. Thank you. It seems I vaguely remember that but can't place it. Thank you. I wonder if it is on the east side of the bypass, north of the hospital? Regardless of location, thank you for the update.

  2. The clinic is on the west, or really north, side of 2/85, across the highway from the hospital.

    Above is the link to the new Williston Basin Eye Clinic that will be built on the Mercy Medical Center grounds. I'm guessing they are trying to build a nicer building than Trinity Clinic did across the bypass from the hospital? Mercy is really going to be a nice looking campus if they keep this up. With the new 3 story addition and the new cancer center...now this building?

    1. When I was growing up in Williston (1954 - 1969), I don't think Williston could have supported one ophthalmologist, maybe an optometrist. And now this? Incredible.

      By the way, when my dad and I drove by the "old" eye clinic, which was probably half the size of this new building, we wondered if that building had been built too big; never in my wildest dreams did I ever think a clinic this size would end up in Williston.
