Some Nice Wells Being Reported in North Dakota Today -- Including a "Gusher" Targeting the Three Forks

Some nice wells being reported today:

18625, DRL, WLL, BSMU 3604, Big Stick oil field, Madison well; not a Bakken -- 24K cumulative oil; producing about 9,000 bbls/month.

18973, 2,579, Helis, State 1-16/21H, Blue Buttes oil field, Bakken; Blue Buttes field is west of Spotted Horn and Antelope (in the reservation; Blue Buttes is outside the reservation). Apparently a Three Forks well.

19130, 2,080, AEZ, Hodenfield 15-33H, Wildcat, Bakken; 2 miles north of highway 2, heading into Ray, with string of AEZ wells. AEZ was acquired by Hess in 2010 as you may recall.

Comment:

AEZ has a string of wildcat wells just west of Ray, North Dakota, north and south of US Highway 2.

That Helis well is a "gusher" -- 58,000 bbls in 38 days. At $70/bbl, that's $4 million. The well is in Blue Buttes which has been a very, very active conventional field. It is located just west of Spotted Horn which has been quite interesting for the Bakken.

And, of course, Whiting just wanted to remind us that other formations remain in play. In this case, the Madison formation with 24,000 bbls of oil cumulative in less than three months.  The Big Stick oil field is in the southwest part of the state, about 15 miles northwest of Belfield.
