NYC Election Update -- February 13, 2024

I'm happy to say that my wife personally campaigned for the Democrat opponent running for Santos' Republican seat in NYC.

And, tonight, breaking news, my wife's Democrat candidate won. She is so thrilled. The US Congress has one more Democrat seat. That's a swing of two votes: one DEM gain and one GOP loss.

Now I have to fact check this and get some names. 

My wife is opening a bottle of champagne.

I'm listening to "escape from reality" [Bohemian Rhapsody] on Amazon Music. Yes, Amazon.  Seems fitting, "escape from reality." I have no dog in that fight and I do not care about NYC politics. Speaking of which, Fetterman seems to be do surprisingly well. But then, the bar has been set quite low. LOL. But to think he's a US Senator. Well, so is Mitch McConnell. And our president is an old man with a poor memory who means well (paraphrasing the special counsel) and our SecDef was recently back in the hospital but apparently this time he let his boss know.

Amazon was founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994. I should have bought one share of stock every time I ordered something from Amazon.

I was finishing up overseas and returning to the states after thirteen years of continuous service overseas. 

I was introduced to Amazon by the USAF surgeon general at a conference he hosted in Washington, DC, for USAF medical commanders. I forget the year but certainly by 2000 I was an Amazon regular.

It's taken me 20+ years -- perhaps closer to 30 years -- buy I finally have a "convert" as it were -- my wife. 

I don't recall my wife actually ordering from Amazon on her own until recently. I always ordered for her on my account. But this year, I think she's ordering more than I order. And she's loving it. Same day delivery in many cases. She's now like me: she doesn't tracks her orders and when her orders show up, she often forgets what she ordered.
