When I read these stories I almost get the feeling that folks forget how much oil the Bakken is producing.

So, I decided to do check. Came up with this.

Bakken Operators

I've long lost the bubble on acreage in the Bakken and production by Bakken operators, for various reasons, but for the "excitement" factor, I think CLR has dropped from first to third place:

For "excitement," these are the top five:

• Chord Energy: Oasis + Whiting + Enerplus (Enerplus may be the best operator of the three but that would be a close call vs Oasis).
  
• Devon: Devon + WPX (reservation; huge).
  
• CLR: went private; history of "damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead." 
• Hess: could move higher if CVX successful in merger, but increasingly unlikely. Might CVX take another look at Hess even if CVX doesn't get Guyana?
• EOG, tied with others.
