Reading — January 4, 2024

Locator: 46460ARCHIVES.

I still have so much to blog. I have a habit of posting unimportant non-Bakken stuff first to get it out of the way, hoping to leave time for the really, really important non-Bakken stuff, and then never getting to the real important stuff.

One of the best things I did last year was subscribe to Barron's. This one publication will probably make me a better investor. We'll never know. The e-edition is so incredibly good and so much better than the print edition. Subscribing -- one of the best things I ever did.

For a Christmas gift to my wife, I subscribed to The New York Times. My wife loves the "arts and books" page of The Wall Street Journal, to which we've subscribed for years (decades?). I read the business pages; she reads the "arts and books" pages. Knowing how much she enjoyed that section of The WSJ I knew she would love The NYT, and she does.

We still subscribe to The Claremont Review of Books and The New York Review of Books.

Southern Living, Pastel Journal, The New Yorker round out the rest. I assume I'm forgetting a few.

I try to check out two or three books from the local library every ten to fourteen days.

Right now, I'm back in my Shakespeare phase -- having just explored A Winter's Tale and The Tempest. Now, The Merchant of Venice.

For the "big book," I'm reading Hermione Lee's Penelope Fitzgerald. Absolutely fascinating. Wiki.
