It's interesting the news come out Saturday after the market has (obviously) closed.

GM Cruise and Bolt updates are tracked here. I guess we will now add the Chevy Blazer to the list.

Lucid Interview

Link here.

I would like to actually hear the audio. The CEO seems incredibly defensive.

"The vision of the company is to really drive down the cost of electric cars because it's very important for the planet," he said. "We just have to start with high-end products because the economics are such you just can't do it any other way."
Details of what to expect from the next Lucid intro remain under wraps, but Rawlinson did suggest that it would appear much earlier than has previously been reported
“I’ve formally stated mid-late-decade, and that has been completely misquoted as the end of the decade – 2030. What I mean is ‘not 2025’. It’s a few years away, but it’s close. It takes 3 1/2 years to do a car, and we’ve started … and that wasn’t yesterday.”

From Inside EVs, December 18, 2023, the Lucid is being compared to the Jaguar I-Pace and the Porsche Taycan.

Lucid CEO says his goal is to turn the Lucid into a family car that is affordable for the middle class. So, he will start with a luxury car that is in the same league as the Jaguar and the Porsche.  And to do that, Lucid has opened a manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia, home of the affordable EV for Americans.

I can't make this stuff up.

By the way, that Jaguar I-Pace: one hour of charging for every two hours driving. Read the story at the link.

Eight Active Rigs In Williams County — December 23, 2023

Locator: 46379B.

Update: from a reader. Thank you very much.

The explosion and well fire you mentioned on a post was a workover rig owned by Apex Well Service. It was not a drilling rig.
Also mentioning the rigs in Williams county, “spud” rigs are listed.
The Noble rig currently listed is one. Noble and T & S Drilling rigs are a couple of companies that are “spud” rigs.

 Original Post

From my twitter feed earlier this evening, it is being reported that there was an explosion and fire on a Grayson Mill rig northeast of Williston in the Epping area. Three injured were flown to hospital(s) with burn facilities. The fire is under control, currently managed by Epping Fire Department.

To the best of my knowledge, “spudding rigs” and work-over rigs are not tracked in the data base above.

There are eight Grayson Mill L. Tufto wells on confidential list about nine miles west of Epping and almost due north of Williston, perhaps could be described as northeast of Williston.

Maybe a reader in the local area knows more.

Hearts and prayers for the injured.

Permanent Renters — A Feel-Good Article — December 24, 2023

Locator: 46378ECON.

Link to The WSJ. One of the best articles on the subject that I’ve ever read.

Americans who would traditionally be homeowners have become long-term renters, including some with no plans to ever buy a home. Renters are changing savings patterns, sparking new developments, and inspiring businesses, from contractors that help out with renovations for renters to high-end fixtures that are easily removed from one dwelling to the next.
