$20 Billion -- 20 Minutes Ago -- OKE-MMP -- May 14, 2023

Locator: 44646B.

From The WSJ:

As of Friday, the companies’ combined stock-market value of nearly $40 billion exceeded that of large U.S. competitors Energy Transfer, Kinder Morgan, and Williams Cos.
Among operators based in the U.S., only Enterprise Products Partners was valued at a higher amount, at $56.4 billion. Canadian rivals Enbridge and TC Energy were also worth more.
Magellan owns almost 10,000 miles of pipelines carrying refined products, such as gasoline, with dozens of interconnected storage facilities in Texas and Oklahoma through the Midwestern U.S. to North Dakota.
It also owns marine storage facilities in the Houston area and Corpus Christi, Texas.
Oneok has a vast network of natural gas liquids pipelines, storage terminals and natural gas pipelines in many of the same regions in the Midwestern U.S., particularly in its home state of Oklahoma and in Texas.
Oneok expects it will be able to generate $1 billion of free cash flow in the first four years after the transaction closes.

From Reuters. Link below.

Magellan's market cap at close, last trading day: $11 billion.

From the Reuters link:

May 14 (Reuters) - ONEOK Inc agreed on Sunday to buy U.S. pipeline operator Magellan Midstream Partners in a cash-and-stock deal valued at about $18.8 billion including debt, bringing natural gas-focused ONEOK into transporting refined products and oil
ONEOK will pay $25 and 0.6670 shares of ONEOK common stock for each outstanding Magellan common unit, representing a premium of 22% based on Magellan shares' closing price on May 12. The buyer will also assume Magellan's $5 billion debt pile.

Compare the share price of OKE on Friday, especially going into the close, with the share price of OKE for the past five days, one month, one year, max.

This is huge.

Literally, every Russell 2000 index investor has a vested interest in Apple succeeding.

Take the market cap of every company listed on the Russell 2000 and then compare that sum to Apple's market cap -- assuming I understand the tweet.

Lego
: date not provided but URL suggests this was posted 4-1-22. It's now possible to determine "expiration" dates.

In the future, Lego may post them on the box without any need for an app. Also, discussion why Lego would institute a "best built by" date. The "retirement date" and the "best built by" date, I assume are significantly different. We have Lego pieces that are easily 50 years old and have noted no deterioration in quality

Lego: posts regular updates on sets expiring soon. Clever, clever marketing. The "little freebies" will become huge collectors' items but one can only get them from Lego by doing one thing.

Lego: expiring in 2023. January, 2023, update. April, 2023, update.

Lego: Reddit. Through December 31, 2026, but not a complete list.

Lego: this may be the best list though the ads will drive you nuts and the link may already be posted. The site is nice because it includes comments, Q&A. For me, most concerning are the Technic sets that will retire at the end of 2023. Sixteen sets will retire on December 31, 2023. I have several, including a few duplicates, but there may be one or two more that I will order. Here is the list:

  • 42115 Lamborghini Sián FKP 37
  • 42125 Ferrari 488 GTE AF Corse
  • 42127 The Batman – Batmobile
  • 42128 Heavy-duty Tow Truck
  • 42129 4×4 Mercedes-Benz Zetros Trial Truck
  • 42131 App-controlled CAT d11 Bulldozer
  • 42132 Chopper
  • 42133 Telehandler
  • 42134 Monster Jam Megalodon
  • 42135 Monster Jam El Toro Loco
  • 42136 John Deere 9620R 4WD Tractor
  • 42137 Formula E Porsche 99X Electric
  • 42138 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
  • 42139 All-Terrain Vehicle
  • 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car
  • 88015 Battery Box

Lego: I inventory and track everything I buy / acquire of this nature. The only exception: Lego. I don't know why I never inventoried my Lego purchases. Sets I bought since March 3, 2020, have never been opened with the exception those sets that Sophia and I have acquired for her. The majority of sets that I have bought from Lego or Amazon since March 3, 2020, have never even been removed from the cardboard shipping box so unless I notated the set number on the outside shipping box, I have no idea what set is in the box.

One of several books I am reading, still from my winter reading program:

  • The Mind of a Bee, Lars Chittka, c. 2022. Princeton University Press. A scientific treatise.

Chapter 3 begins with a quote regarding the complex organs of sense (sight, sound, touch) among non-human animals. The quote is by John Lubbock. The author, Lars Chhittka, writes:

If Britons today recognize the name John Lubbock at all, it is mostly becauuse he was the father of "bank holidays" -- official holidays on which banks and other businesses are closed

In addition to traditional holidays such as Christmas and Easter, the parliamentarian and banker Lubbock introduced several new ones clustered in the spring and summer months. This was because he was also a keen entomologist who lamented that his "parliamentary duties ... have absorbed most off my time just at the season of year when these insects can be most profitably studied."

Of all the ways politicians could use their powers to serve themselves and their public at the same time, letting an entire nation off work so one could study insects is surely the most wonderful.

These are the UK bank holidays:

Whiting To Report Two Nice Sanish Wells This Next Week -- May 14, 2023

After a string of disappointing wells in the Sanish, Whiting will report two nice Sanish wells this next week.

I think I know why but I'm not going to say anything. I don't need landmen laughing at me any more than they already are.
