Unused pipe for Keystone XL at Gascoyne, ND, far southwest corner of the state. Photos taken today; reader sent me the photos. The pipe was there, the permits were there, and the workers were there. And, then just like, killed.
That's it. Read our lips. TC Energy won't take Biden's phone calls either.
The pipe at Gascoyne laid there for so long I can't remember when it was set there.
ReplyDeleteIt's been there so long a few years ago they sorted through it all and scrapped much of it because ofcorrosion and coating degradation.
There's another massive pile of it north of Philp SD as well as a couple sights built up to house workers.
Many rural roads were re graded and widened to handle the traffic to come from building the pipeline in western SD.
I could go on but you get the picture. Millions maybe billions spent laying the way for the pipeline killed with a pen stroke.
Ironically the pipe yard at Gascoyne was once part of a coal mine that shipped out by rail I believe. That was scrapped in the 90s I believe then in the Balkan boom frac sand was railed in there to be trucked away to the fracs.
That railroad spur or siding has seen a lot of energy business over the years. Across the highway (US 12) they still mine and process bentonite products. To the north of the pipe is a commercial feedyard. Busy place!
It's incredibly sad -- I think "criminal" -- that without due process any one person could simply issue/sign an executive order stopping something that had involved so many people, so much money, yada, yada, yada. I find it absolutely incredible. One begins to wonder what legitimizes executive orders --

I drive past the Gascoyne pipeyard nearly every other day. What H-B says is true. The pipe company spent millions to x-ray the usable pipe putting up temporary buildings and hiring three shifts of technicians (50-60 per shift maybe), housing the workers mostly in nearby Bowman. Such a waste. Even if the pipeline construction was resumed it would be at least a couple years to get back to where we were. Score one for the Green lefties. Did they think electric semi's were going to haul all that pipe?
