There are seven permits / locations on that pad. How are those wells doing now. It should be noted that the parent well, #16459, is off line.

Four points can be made looking at the MRO wells in the Bailey oil field:

  • not only is this not atypical;
  • it's likely to be the norm for MRO wells in this field; and,
  • there's no suggestion these wells won't be refracked a third or fourth time; or,
  • re-entered to lengthen them to recover orphaned oil along the section lines.

Administratively, Bakken operators capture the orphaned well with overlapping 2560-acre wells, but geologically / production-wise they do not. Fracking is only optimal to about 50 feet (radius), and definitely recedes even more quickly at the toe.
