I was ready to call it a night, but took one last look at the NDIC map even though it's not being updated. I was looking for anything ... anything ... that might catch my eye. I saw an old isolated well -- I was simply curious --- what was this singleton doing with no neighboring well, and this is what I found, recent production:

The last sundry form is dated from 2017; there is nothing to explain why the 10-fold jump in production.
