Oh, Oh -- That Vaccine Hesitancy Has Become A "Thing" -- May 4, 2021

Oh, oh. Look at column 7: total vaccinations administered dropped below one million

CDC data here

Some states can't even use the full allocation offered by the federal government (supply exceeds demand in some states):

I started tracking this metric January 20, 2021. Since then, there have been only six days where the total number of vaccinations dropped below a million over a 24-hour period.

Remember:

  • there's now enough capacity to vaccinate 4 million Americans per day
  • everyone over the age of 16 years of age now recommended to get the vaccine
  • a reader mentioned that it was easier than ever to schedule an appointment to get the "shot"  -- which in itself, speaks volumes.

Question:

  • if the vaccine is so effective, why did the TSA just extend the mandate for those fully vaccinated to continue wearing masks?
  • why are states like West Virginia offering as much as $100 to folks to get the vaccine?

Record number of vaccinations:

  • Saturday, March 13, 2021: 4,575,496 vaccinations;
  • Saturday, April 3, 2021: 4,081,959 vaccinations

The day that things changed, the announcement that the JNJ vaccine might be unsafe and needed to be pulled from the market immediately:

  • April 13, 2021

  1. Not sure its a hesitancy, but can prob add vaccine info fatigue and as with my wife and I have just not felt the need to get it.

    1. "...have just not felt the need to get it." And with each passing day we get closer to herd immunity ... the odds of one coming in contact with someone with active disease gets smaller and smaller.

  2. You might say we timed it perfect. Left Montana before it really hit, relocated to S Carolina after the worst of it here.
