Texas did not even make the top ten!!!!! In either list.

Let's post that again, in case you missed it:

This is an absolutely fascinating list. I thought Connecticut would be #1. Never, never, never in a million years would I have thought Texas would not have been on the list, and Vermont, North Dakota, and Montana are among the top four. Wow.

Now, for those states at the other end of the spectrum. States from which folks are fleeing:

Oregon makes both lists. So did Massachusetts.

Surprises: Minnesota! Are you kidding me? Not only are folks in Minneapolis/St Paul leaving the city, they are leaving the state. I would have thought MSP moves would have simply been to the suburbs. 

Other surprises: Florida. Really? Massachusetts is a slight surprise -- again, Boston folks could move a few miles west to the suburbs and not leave the state. 

This may be Covid-19 related but I think that's too easy. I'm thinking a) taxes; b) anti-growth philosophy in the statehouse / governor's mansion. 

And the folks moving: those that can afford to move, i.e., those paying taxes.

Of all the states listed, it appears Connecticut is the big winner. Folks moving from Boston and NYC to Connecticut. Connecticut is a high tax state so this is not about taxes. Covid-19, of course, is the main reason, but I think one can add anti-growth mentality; crime; BLM, defund-the-police movement, one sees in Boston and NYC. Is Connecticut an island in an ocean of New England insanity?
