That Surge In Covid-19 Cases In North And South Dakota -- September 12, 2020

I keep reading that there's been a surge of Covid-19 cases in the Dakotas. I would expect that — a surge in cases —for any number of reasons.

But I keep looking for change in stats regarding "deaths / million population" and I'm not seeing it.

Remember: we're well past the 14-day quarantine period following the Sturgis Rally, August 6 - August 17, 2020. Way past the quarantine period. We're a full month out.

These are the "deaths / million population" stats:

Top ten:

North Dakota and South Dakota:

  1. It really is amazing that the riots and looting were never blamed for serious virus transmission. I’m not saying the Sturgis rally didn’t facilitate the spread of the virus. I’m sure it did. But the way the liberal media can’t wait to blame the motorcycle rally for “unmitigated transmission” is amazing. All you have to do is look at the “curve” for all major metropolitan areas and it’s obvious Memorial Day celebrations weren’t the only cause for an increase in spread. So frustrating.

    1. I think you've hit on exactly why there is so much emphasis on the Sturgis Rally -- trying to get folks to shift their focus away from riots, demonstrations, etc., and on "white" events like the Sturgis Rally. But again, fake news. The numbers don't support the thesis.

    2. It should be noted that the Sturgis Rally was a "state-sanctioned" event. Riots and demonstrations fall into another category altogether. The riots and demonstrations are generally in states where the political leadership is anti-Trump (and strongly anti-Trump) whereas not only was the Sturgis Rally in a state that strongly supports Trump, but in addition, its governor is a fast rising GOP star. My hunch is that the mainstream media is striking early to prevent this star from continuing to rise.

  2. And by the way. Black lives matter. There is no debating that. I’m not Simply saying that to not sound insensitive in my earlier comment. Black lives matter. They really do. Such a simple statement shouldn’t be so divisive. I’m all for equal footing but I’m also for equal reporting. Too much to ask I guess. I’d you get arrested don’t resist.

    1. By the way, if you look closely, "we" are moving back to "affirmative action" on steroids. It's no longer acceptable to be "colorblind." Universities, for example, are under pressure to consider race, giving "weight" to non-whites.

    3. I don't know if you've seen "Birman of Alcatraz." It was on TCM today; first time I've actually watched it. A great movie. It's all about "resisting" authority. It's a great movie, but a very, very troubling message and how Hollywood "changed" the real story.

    5. If you watch the movie, you need to read the "real" biography of the convict.
