The Market, Energy, And Political Page, Part 2, T+37 -- December 12, 2018

Take the $1.6 billion; build the wall; declare victory; and, move on:

But it is amazing how much we have given Iran over the years. Occasional-Cortex should add up all the foreign aid the US has given to North Korea and Iran over the years -- it would pay for "Medicare for all."

Liquor: From The Williston Herald: update on the proposed liquor license ordinance.
At a standing-room only meeting at Williston City Hall Tuesday, Williston Principal Planner Rachel Laqua presented changes to the current ordinance to city commissioners. Members of the Liquor Committee have been involved in discussions for a year to change the city's current ordinance, with the intention of streamlining the number of license types, modernizing the language of the ordinance, as well as moving from a population-based system to a more open, fee-based system, which would allow for a larger number of liquor licenses within the city.
I always find it amazing what gets folks excited. LOL. Standing room only.

  1. A coalition of countries unfreezing $56 billion in frozen assets of Iran's own money as part of a denuclearization agreement does not equal America donating $150 billion to Iran. What really made that $56 billion unfreezing of assets concession worthless was dropping out of the agreement completely. Something for something > something for nothing.

    Nice peppers!

    1. Thank you. Great comment/great summary in so few words.

You have demonstrated how Rex Tillerson is wrong when he says issues can't be distilled in tweets of 140 characters, or whatever the limit is. Obviously I understand what Tillerson is saying, but if one can't summarize one's thoughts on an issue into a 30-second elevator speech, one probably does not understand the issue. One's understanding may be wrong but at least we know that person's position.

Someone else can articular that better than I, but hopefully it makes sense.

Thank you for nice comment on the peppers. These four peppers would have cost about $8.00 at the local grocer; at local farmer's market, they always have "day-old peppers," four for 99 cents. I can't tell the difference between "day-old peppers" and fresh peppers. I doubt anyone can.

150 billion of frozen assets flowed back to iran. How much made it back. How long was Obama giveaway in action. Up to 150 made it back to iran, not a worthless deal from iran's standpoint. Beware lefties with half-truths

    1. The most cynical part of all of this, of course, is the Schumer-Pelosi agreeing to send billions to Iran and North Korea over the years (probably enough to pay for "Medicare-for-all") and yet can't come up with $5 billion for US border security.
