Preliminary EV Sales Data For August, 2017

EV sales summary for August, 2017, has been released. Data for most makes/models has (have?) been posted, but a few makes/models yet to be posted.

It's going to be close, but month-over-month (August-over-July) may show no real increase, perhaps even a slight decrease.

For July-over-June (month-over-month), 2017, there was a decline:
  • August (not all data posted yet): 12,750
  • July: 15,607 (a 10% decrease from the previous month)
  • June: 17,332 
By make/model:
  • Tesla, Model S: 2,150 (looks to be near its monthly average this year) 
  • Tesla, Model X (remember, Tesla has reduced the price on this model): 1,445 (lowest number sold in the past four months; only one month in the past six with a lower number of sales)
  • Chevrolet Volt: 1,445 (looks to be near its monthly average this year)
  • Chevrolet Bolt: 2,107 (at the higher end for monthly sales)
  • Toyota Prius Prime: 1,820 (looks to be near its monthly average this year)
  • Nissan Leaf: 1,154 (at the lower end of monthly sales)
  • Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid: a pretty big jump; from 125 in July to 425 in August
  • Mercedes 5550e: a huge drop; from 124 in July to only 32 in August; the smaller Mercedes C350e is doing better: 112 in July; 212 in August
And drum roll for the Tesla Model 3:
  • July, 2017, first month for deliveries: 30
  • August, 2017, second month for deliveries: 75
