When the Fed announces a rate hike this afternoon, it will be the second rate hike in ten years. Just one more example how optimistic the Fed is for a Trump presidency, along with a 12-year high in US consumer confident, and seven consecutive days of new, all-time record highs for the Dow through yesterday.  Since 2006, there have been two hikes in "the Fed rate." The second was a full year ago, December, 2015.

The "hike" has been telegraphed for at least the past six months.
