  • 31098, 444, Hess, BL-Iverson C-155-96-1423H-2, Beaver Lodge, Devonian Pool, t12/15; cum --; it appears this well was drilled just to vertical depth, but the lateral has not yet been drilled (or at least at the time the last sundry form was filed; there is always a lag between what goes on in the field and what is reported at NDIC).
Comment: Look at #31098 above. I will bet that the "Devonian Pool" will turn out to be a Three Forks well.  See this earlier post. This is kind of fun. In that earlier post I wrote:
This is not a hard-and-fast rule, and I'm not seeing it everywhere but it seems to me there me be a subtle change in the way the geologists are recording their observations. I first noticed it two days ago when a scout ticket said the target pool was the "Devonian."
When I looked at the geologist's narrative/permit application, the target was the upper Three Forks (the first bench). [I won't be able to find the original post, but years ago I made the observation and posted it that it appeared that at one time -- long ago -- some geologists were routinely labeling wells that were targeting the Bakken as "Devonian" wells. I think one can go back and find old Devonian wells that we would now be calling middle Bakken wells. My hunch is that when geologists in Williston sit down to lunch they interchange Mississippian and middle Bakken, and Devonian and Three Forks.]
So, let's check the file report. Yup! It's a Three Forks! Neat.

Anything else on today's daily activity report? Nope, not much. Samson Resources renews a permit for a Strom well in Divide County, but that was about it.
