Autonomous Tractor -- Too Good Not To Post

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Bakken -- though the "general issue" has something in common with the Bakken -- but more on that later.

Don sent this to me. It really is quite incredible. From a technological point of view it's probably not that amazing, but, nonetheless, the video is compelling.

Kinze Autonomous Project

The cost of paying a tractor/truck driver can be expensive, but in the Bakken, the problem is not lack of money, it's lack of drivers.

In the ObamaCliff bill there was a provision extending an existing tax break for investment in equipment up to $500,000. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to put this all together.

Wow, what a great opportunity. What a great country.

  1. Wow, what technology. When I was a kid on the tractor(50 years ago), and you guys were in town shooting hoops, it was no power steering so when a front tire it a rock, the wheel would practically rip your arms off, noisy screaming engines, no nice enclosed quiet cab with air conditioning and music and now you don't even have to be there? All you have to do is be able to afford these advances.

    1. I agree; it is quite incredible. Normally I would not have posted this but it really caught my eye. I can only imagine how jarring it must have been to hit a while driving a tractor.

Speaking of shooting hoops while you were working the fields, I remember how much the football coach looked forward to seeing his players from the farms finally get the harvest in so they could be at practice. Those players working on farms were by far the biggest, strongest players on the field.
