I received an e-mail this morning suggesting that two of the companies (GasFrac and Key Energy) are no longer in the Bakken, and that I have missed at least one company, Trican.

So, this may be the first Trican posting on the site.
Let's see: if they got to Minot last May (2012), this will be their first North Dakota winter. There's a lot of misinformation out there about winters in North Dakota. They really aren't that bad. Just joking. Smile. Good luck. Wishing Trican all the best.

During my time in ND this summer I was aware of Keys large presence in many different service lines, but never did see a frac spread. I've worked in PA and the Anadarko/Mississippi Lime plays for near 6 years now and if Key offers a line of frac equipment I must be blind. The closest thing I've seen is some rather large and extremely impressive Coiled Tubing units and support pumps. Trican really seems to have their ducks in a row, and as an even juicier bit of trivia their purchase and rebranding of Liberty Pressure Pumping is made more complicated by a new frac spread west of Williston named Liberty Energy Services. I believe this new Liberty brand is used for stirictly in house pressure pumping for their parent company, much like Oasis Well Service is to Oasis Petroleum, RockPile Energy Services is to Triangle, and Performance Technologies is to Chesapeake down here south a ways.

No, thank you. Ive checked this blog daily since summer 2011. It was part of my decision to make my way north to see what all the fuss was about myself. Things didnt work out too well for me but I enjoyed my time there and enjoyed trying some knoephla soup in Williston and fleishkuekle in the little burg of Richardton. Best ribeye of my short life can be found in the even littler(sp) burg of Mott, ND. Some pretty country to be found in spots. Keep up the good work

Menard's is flying fifty folks a week by private jet from Wisconsin to Minot to staff their Menard's store there: free transportation, room and board, $13 for basic staff, more for specialists. Four to five days/week.
