I do not remember when I started the first Bakken blog; probably sometime back in 2008. One night, unfortunately, I deleted the original blog completely.
DeleteThe current "Million Dollar Way" blog was started on October 24, 2009, with a simple "I am taking the blog off-line for awhile." I was deleting the old blog; bringing up the new blog.
To answer your question: "Blogger" counts a total of 7,928 stand-alone posts; seventy-five (75) of those posts are in draft form; some (maybe less than 10) will get posted soon (they are unimportant bits of non-Bakken news, for the most part). The others may eventually get updated enough to be posted.
Unfortunately, the number of stand-alone posts does not tell the entire story. I update old posts to the tune of five or six a day, sometimes more.
To the best of my knowledge (there may be exceptions early on) I never change/edit old posts without telling folks I have changed/edited something, and I do it very rarely. There are exceptions: I correct typographical errors, obvious factual errors that readers point out in the comments; and, I do update IPs and cumulative production numbers.
I generally will not delete any stand-alone post; I put them in draft, in case a deleted stand-alone post becomes relevant.
It appears that page views (lower left hand corner of the blog) will go over the 3 million mark before the end of August.
Here comes three million views along with your three year anniversary in October. Almost eight thousand posts plus all the additional updating and editing. Tremendous.

Thank you for all the kind words. I had originally planned to use "html" (blogging) for personal use only to keep track of what was going on, and to educate myself regarding the Bakken, but without question it has been much more rewarding to get feedback from others.
DeleteSome days it almost seems old, "groundhog day," but then something pops up that is new or quite surprising.
The dropping rig count is probably depressing for many; it probably hurts truckers the most, but if operators can meet production targets with fewer rigs, investors should be rewarded nicely.
