Airport Re-Opens in the Bakken

The airport at Killdeer, Dunn County -- Williston Basin Bakken -- will re-open next week.

Also, somewhat away from the Williston Basin Bakken but some folks may want to keep this on their radar scope (no pun intended): Hardin, Montana, replacing runway with $6 million airport.

  1. when you go south of Hardin about 15 miles on I 90 toward Sheridan ,wy you enter the Red River formation.. there has been increased oil drilling activity in this area in the last 3-4 years..

We have land to lease four and Seven miles from Killdeer on Rt.200. Contact me at Sahadak@verizon.net for any serious business inquiries.

Good to hear they are looking to advance the airport. If Killdeer had railroad it would be growing much faster than it is. This is a good sign that Dunn County is taking growth seriously.

If you are unable to post this I understand.... Great blog and writing.

When your bored one night you can write the story the Tale of two Dunn Counties. One has the oil and the other the sand. Also, $50,000 an acre is mind boggling.

    1. Thank you for your kind words.

I was completely blown away by the size of that deal, $1.3 billion for relatively few acres. Three parties involved in selling (Helis, Black Hills, and Unit Corp) -- can you imagine all the discussions, all the due diligence? And keeping it confidential all this time.

If this doesn't wake up folks about the value of the Bakken, I don't know what will. I will be interested to see if Mike Filloon has anything to say about this deal.
